Windows 7 Tips and Tricks

Windows 7 offers many tricks that most users are not aware of. These shortcuts and tips make the system much easier to use, as well as save time. Once you have grown accustomed to your Windows 7 operating system, you will discover other tricks and shortcuts you can use.

Perhaps the best feature that Windows 7 offers is the ClearType feature. Instead of being stuck with fuzzy or unreadable type, the ClearType feature allows you to adjust the clarity of the type until it is ideal for your preferences and your screen resolution. To use the ClearType feature, press the Windows button and select search. In the search box, type "cttune.exe." This command will start the ClearType software.

Windows 7 also allows you to access recently used folders, which is a useful feature if you wish to reopen a file that you have recently modified or if you wish to save the contents of the file to archival DVDs or blank media CD Rs. To begin, right-click the folder icon on the bottom left of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. This will open a menu of recently used folders.

If you tend to work with multiple windows open, there is a simple trick to close all of the windows except the one you are currently working on. To do this, mouse over the name at the top of the window you would like to keep open, click on it, and do not release it. Then, move your mouse from left to right and all of the windows will close except for the one you selected.
