What You Should Know about WiFi
The majority of laptop owners take advantage of their system's WiFi capabilities. With the use of WiFi, you can connect to the internet from any location where WiFi is available, allowing you to work or to browse websites from airports, coffee shops, hotels, and even from anywhere in your own home. However, it is important to be aware of the special features and issues that WiFi use presents to use it safely and to avoid being hacked.
One of the most important features of WiFi that users need to be aware of is that WiFi is not as secure as a hard connection. Public WiFi that does not use a password broadcasts everything to anyone in the area, allowing hackers to easily steal financial information and private data. If you must use public WiFi, avoid going to banking sites or any site where your password privacy is essential, because hackers can easily steal your information.
Secured WiFi connections are also not as secure as hard connections. The security may safeguard your message, but once it reaches the access point it becomes unsecured. Higher level security such as transport layer protocol, or TLS, can solve this problem. If you often use WiFi at home, save your sensitive files and information on a blank media CD R or mini CDs.
Finally, if you have a home wireless router, connect it at a point away from your microwave and your wireless phone. These devices emit a electromagnetic frequencies that are similar to your wireless connection, which can cause problems.
