What to do when your PC is Overheating?
Throughout every single computer is a series of wires and circuits that have huge amounts of electricity running through them at all times. Modern computers do a very good job at maintaining relatively safe temperatures that will not damage the internal hardware, but there are a number of extenuating circumstances in which an overheated PC can become likely. Here is a look at just a few of the maintenance steps that can be taken to keep a PC running smoothly for years on end.
Not only will a cool computer run faster, it will also reduce the chance of any hardware damage. In order to prevent this, the first step is to keep a PC clean. The outside can easily be cleaned with a number of simple rags or specialty made products, but it is the internals that must be cleaned as well. Compressed air is one of the leading choices to remove dust, lint and other particles from all exhaust fans, the keyboard, and any other areas in which harmful debris may have collected.
If the computer continues to overheat, it is important to save all data and then turn the computer off. The operator should then check all fans and ports for any damage or foreign material. If this hardware seems to be working properly, excess data can be stored on archival DVDs and other CD R media options. The BIOS and operating system should then be updated to check for any patches that may fix the problem. If all else fails, the owner may need to consider a new hard drive, perhaps a graphics card or check their warranty.
