Uninstalling Computer Programs
While many programs can quickly be removed from one's computer, some individuals may not realize that they have incorrectly removed all of the information from their software. Here is a quick look at the best way to remove software from one's computer when it is no longer needed.
The simplest way to remove software from a laptop or desktop is to utilize the program's uninstall tool. This is often in the programs home screen or under a preferences button. If there is no option to remove the program in either of these locations, the install CD can often be inserted into the computer and then used to remove the program.
If none of these options are working, the next choice is to use the computer's add/remove program tool. This tool is most often located in the computer's control panel. When removing software, users should first look through any files that have been created and saved with the software. Some may wish to keep various files for use at a later date and to prevent permanent deletion of this data. These files can be saved externally with archival DVDs or other blank media CD R options to free space on the computer's hard drive.
If the user needs these files at a later point, they will have to first reinstall the program by either downloading it from the internet or with the install CD. The burned disc can then be used to reinstall any of the files that the user needs including account information and any preferences for the program.
