Older machines or some drives with older firmware will fall back to 2.4x speed if they can't achieve 4x speed with these discs. If this is your first disc order, before ordering be sure that you have a "plus" type DVD burner - DVD+R discs are not compatible with the older A03/1-3 and A04/104 type Pioneer (except their DVR-A06/106D), Apple Mac G4/G3 Superdrives, Panasonic and other similar "general" type DVD-RAM capable stand alone or "set top" DVD recorders COMPATIBILITY UPGRADE NOTES - These discs have been tested and certified to work well with DVD+R "plus" type DVD burners, and can be played on most DVD players. Most problems with disc compatibility are actually caused by outdated drive firmware. Firmware controls how your drive works with different brands of discs. Recent firmware upgrades are now available for most DVD burner drives that tremedously improve the drives' ability to recognize and burn more brands of DVD discs properly, so those discs will play without errors on most DVD players. You should check to see if new upgrades are available frequently, as new releases are now being released often.
