QUALITY TESTED -- our "best-buy" standard-grade recordable DVDs for budget-minded shoppers -- Guaranteed quality, general or minus type 4.7GB DVD-R. Bulk blank recordable discs with a shiny WHITE TOPPED non-printable surface, packed in cello-wrapped spindles. The white surface helps reflect more of the laser light back down into the write or read heads of burners and players. This helps reduce the possibility of most "disc errors". These discs are tested to meet industry standards for everyday use.
Tested Reliable Speeds with These Burners and Firmware
NOTE -- Upgrading your drive's firmware (see links below) generally improves performance speed and reliability with blank DVD-Rs. Once you've got the latest drive firmware, then upgrading your DVD burning software to the latest version (from their web pages) can usually improve your drive's performance with many brands of DVD-Rs. Also, some software simply supports one or two drives and disc brands better than others. A little experimentation between leading software programs can save you a lot of time and frustration. See our DVD Recordable FAQ page for DVD software recommendations and links.
DVD-RAM/-R RECORDER and MACINTOSH COMPATIBILITY NOTES - These particular discs are not compatible with many stand-alone or combo DVD-RAM/-R recorders, such as the Panasonic DMR-E20 to E60 models and their internal SW-9571 or LF-D311 drives. DVD-RAM/-R recorders feature lasers that have different power settings than most other DVD burners due to their DVD-RAM capability, and therefore require more highly reflective DVD-R discs than usual. Owners of stand-alone or combo DVD-RAM/-R recorders should order our 2x-1x Stock Nos. 702757, 702740W, or 702991. For Inkjet discs, order our Stock No. 702608. Some Macintosh Superdrives also are working with those 4 kinds of discs.
OTHER COMPATIBILITY NOTES - These discs have been tested and certified to work well with most DVD-R "general" type DVD computer DVD burners. When properly recorded, they can be played on most DVD players. Most problems with disc compatibility are actually caused by outdated drive firmware. Firmware controls how your drive works with different brands of discs. Recent firmware upgrades are now available for most DVD burner drives that tremedously improve the drives' ability to recognize and burn more brands of DVD discs properly, so those discs will play without errors on most DVD players. You should check frequently to see if new upgrades are available, because new releases are now being released every week. Download FREE firmware upgrades for DVD burners at CDRInfo.com or Firmware-Flash.com, or go to your manufacturer's support pages.
